The Curved iMac is a mock-up conceived by designer Nuno Texeira. This mock-up looks simple but impossibly elegant. Yanko Design says.."Designer Nuno Teixeira believes every computer should be two faced and with more curves...Taking a cue from the 1950’s CINERAMA wrap-around movie theatre screens, this iMac iMock-up features a giant curved screen(for better orientation to the natural curvature of the human eye) and a second built in LCD screen on the back”.

Mr. Texeira’s Curved iMac seems like a very well articulated design. It is beautiful, appealing, sexy, totally hip and cutting edge. Will we see something resembling that soon from Apple or any of the other industry leaders? One can only hope so.

The new version of the SATA standard (known as SATA 6) will be able to push data at twice the speed of the old version of SATA, and reports are that it should arrive in consumer products beginning in 2009.

What Are The Benefits of SATA Over Other Technologies?

Although speed is the primary benefit of using an SATA hard drive, other aspects of the SATA standard also bode very well for improved types of solid state SATA drives. Faster, larger capacity flash thumb drives can connect via the external SATA (eSATA) port that is now being built into many new computer systems.

In addition to the flexibility of eSATA drives another positive aspect of the SATA specification is the ease of use of the SATA cable and connectors. Old style PATA and SCSI cables are flat ribbon cables that are difficult to handle, block air flow inside the computer case, and have the connectors easily damaged or the pins bent if not carefully inserted.

SATA hard drives are now the current standard for almost all consumer brand computers. They are more than adequate for most home users and the backward compatibility built into the SATA specification means that any future upgrades to the specification will continue to work with existing SATA hard drives.

Intel Flex Memory Technology

Two modules with different capacities will always be run in asymmetric mode. As soon as the capacity in both memory channels is the same, the chipset will run in symmetrical dual channel mode. As one would expect, the performance suffers, but it is still much better than running single channel.

It sounds much like another marketing buzz word, but there is real value behind it. With recent chipsets and motherboards, you can either insert DIM modules arbitrarily and run the system in single channel mode, or you can go for two DIMMs with the same capacity. Preferably, the memory pair should even be identical, so that it is possible to run the fastest timing settings.
Intel may have been very quick to realize that memory timings would only have little impact on their DDR2 / PCI Express / LGA 775 platform. This could be one reason why Flex Memory Technology was introduced. By looking more closely at this term, we quickly learn how it works: It is possible to run dual-channel modes with different memory equipment in order to facilitate upgrades. How does it sound to run dual channel with 2x 256 MB in one channel and 1x 512 MB in the other one?
Intel's presentation does not go into detail about the performance one can expect in this dual channel symmetric mode, so we decided to run a couple of benchmarks. Here we picked the ATI Radeon X600 and another 3.6 GHz Pentium 4 Processor 560, as our first test system was busy with the platform benchmarks.
